Introducing Currencies and List Prices in Tangix HelpDeskPRO 1.4.23

The upcoming release of Tangix HelpDeksPRO will contain two new features that we would like to introduce with an entry here in the Developer Blog. These two features will make it possible to use Tangix HelpDeskPRO in situations where multiple currencies are needed.

Multiple Currencies
Optional support for up to 10 currencies has been added in version 1.4.23. Configuration is done from the settings screen:

Each currency is defined with a symbol ($, €, SEK or £ as examples) and the formatting of the currency display can also be controlled (currency symbol placed before or after the value and if a space should be added).

When enabled each Product in the system will have the price in each currency available when editing:

To make management of companies assigned to separate Business Units (introduced in version 1.4.22), each Business Unit can have a defined default currency that will be applied to all product editing functions for companies assigned to that Business Unit.

When working with product registrations the enabled currencies will be available:

The currency setting is a per-registration setting and a customer can thus have Product A invoiced in USD and Product B in €.

All reports have been updated to handle multiple currencies.


List prices for Product Registrations
In previous versions of Tangix HelpDeskPRO the concept of list price was simple; “if you have entered the same price on the product registration as the configured price of the product - this counts as list price”. This concept does not work well when adding multiple currencies and will also cause problems with planned future features for Tangix HelpDeskPRO.

Instead, starting with version 1.4.23 every product registration now contains a flag “Use List Price” that will indicate if list-price should be considered for this registration and also which currency is used for the specific product registration.

A product registration using list price will automatically update the list price in other currencies if the currency is changed.
