Grouping of certifications in the User Directory

Posted by Mattias Sandström on February 23, 2009

A cool feature of the VirtualTester is the way user achievements can be made public in the User Directory. However, there are some cases where this function is not ideal and this is something that we are addressing in VirtualTester 6.0 with the introduction of “Directory Group Name” and “Directory Label”.

These settings are available on each certification defined in the system and will group certifications with the same “Directory Group Name” together in the list of certifications, so we will go from this in VirtualTester 5.0:

(how do you know which one to select to find a certified user?)

to this in VirtualTester 6.0:

The certifications are group together by the “Directory Group Name” and presented as one certification for easy selection.

To group several certifications together, the “Directory Label” may be used. Entering the same label for several certifications will group all those certifications together as one and display the latest date. In this example, two certifications have the “Core” label assigned, but they are displayed as one column in the list of matched users.

The result is a Certified User Directory that is easier to use and more flexible in the configuration.
